Update
Visit Home
I had a wonderful visit coming home over the past 4 days. Its funny, because when you’re away for so long (6+months) you wonder how different things will be, how people will receive you, or even remember you. Well, let me tell you, nothing has changed in Elverson. That’s a good thing. I was received with as much encouragement and blessing than I could have hoped for. Thank you all for having a part of that.
It was also great to see Zack on Friday and Monday of this past week. We had a lot of time to talk together on Monday and he shared with me many of the painful trials he’s been through over these past months. I continue to pray for peace in his heart and that God would be glorified by healing him. Many of the Mexican brothers and sisters in Christ here in Puebla pray for him daily as well. They remember him well from previous trips to Mexico with CEFC. We all can’t wait until he’s better so he can come down here and see everyone again.
I got my driver’s license back yesterday! It took the U.S. Postal Service 2 days to get it 3000 miles from PA to Mexico City, and it took the Mexican Postal Service 14 days to get it 60 miles from Mexico City to Puebla. Lesson learned. The Lord has now restored everything that was lost when I was robbed on the metro in Mexico City.
The near future
This week, I’m spending time getting settled in again, studying, visiting people, doing a few English classes and preparing for the medical caravan. This year the caravan will be going to Coyutla, a village in the state of Vera Cruz, Mexico. We’ll leave two days before Christmas and get home right before New Year’s Day. I’ve been on the caravan two times in the past and have really enjoyed it. There’s a ton of work to do there, including translating, maintenance work, working in the pharmacy, taking vital signs of patients and sharing the gospel. Lots to do and many opportunities to serve.
Praises:
- Flying back to Mexico went well. With only a few minor delays, no missed flights and an opportunity to share the gospel with one of the passengers, I’d say it went really well. Thank you for praying.
- I’m so glad to have my license back. I had no idea how it would ever arrive here.
- Over all, coming home for those few days went far better than expected.
Prayer Requests:
- Last year the medical caravan did not get across the border. Please pray that they will be allowed to pass and bless the region of Coyutla with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and much needed medical aid.
- I have the opportunity to travel with one of my neighbors and his family to his family’s home, about 3 hours away in Tesuatlan, Mexico. His father specifically invited me to come about a month ago after a conversation we had about God’s Word. I’d love to go and have more of a chance to share with him about what it really means to be saved.
- For Omar who still does not know what the future holds for him. He’s still living alone, holding his family’s home together and going to school. I get to visit him on Tuesdays and bring him to play soccer and attend evening church on Sundays.
It was great to see so many of you when I was home last week. Thank you all so much for making me feel so welcome, encouraged and loved during my stay. May the Lord bless you all and keep you in his care.
